You've likely heard of free cab rides home on drunken holidays. But, how about free tows? AAA is offering its Tipsy Tow program on select holidays, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., in Northern California, Nevada, and Utah.
It goes like this: if you're too drunk to drive and your car is parked within 5 miles of your home, you can call for a free tow. There's no need for a membership, just call 800-AAA-HELP (800-222-4357) and say "I need a tipsy tow." A driver will pick you and your car up, and give you a one-way ride home. The website says they'll transport any passengers that can fit, but rumor is they'll only offer a ride to the driver.
The Tipsy Tow program is offered on the following holidays: Super Bowl, St. Patrick's Day, Cinco de Mayo, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve.
So, if you must drive, stay within 5 miles from your house, in case you need a tow. I suppose you could walk, but that wouldn't make for nearly as good of a story.
